People living in Nouakchott drink now from Aftout Es Sahili:

The authority has just succeeded an outstanding operation which aims at providing Nouakchott inhabitants with drinkable water from Aftout Es Sahili instead of Idini. In fact, for the last decade Nouakchott was in shortage of clean water and a real solution was needed. The current project is expected to solve the lack of clean water in the capital for the next century. Moreover it will help people avoid water borne diseases and its disastrous impact on children life.
Without overstating I can say that the current water is better than the previous one and the reason is that I never heard anyone until today (more than three weeks after its release in the taps) complaining genuinely about its quality.

After the month of Ramadan:

During the last month (the month of Ramadan, according to the lunar calendar) people usually spend most of their time worshiping God and making supplications.
But unfortunately as soon as this month passes away they resume slowly their old habits and forget about God and his commands as if their prayers are only accepted during the month of Ramadan.
Here, from this blog we call upon all the Muslims to carry on doing those good deeds they used to do during the holy month, and bear in mind that our Lord and beloved God is all hearing and he will keep rewarding us as long as we keep doing what he has ordained upon us and as long as we keep fellowing the steps of his Messenger Mohamed peace and blessing be upon him.
Also, we should understand that our success in this live and here after depends only on our believe in God and the teaching of his Messenger Mohamed (PBUH).

Stop now destroying Nouakchott’s beautiful main roads:

These days the authorities are undertaking a huge operation which will ultimately change in a sad way the capital’s beautiful landscape.
In fact, the unnamed operation consists of uprooting all the beautiful trees which were surrounding and garmenting the capital main roads, giving it an enviable image of a civilized town.
Moreover, this contestable move, is now going ahead without any kind of explanation from the authority, nor protestation from the people, who is standing cross handed witnessing the slaughter of their beautiful town.
With the disastrous impact of the global warming on people life all over the world that we all now now, the authorities should encourage trees planting not the other way around.
After all, and in this stage, I think that the only remaining tool of protestation against this awkward operation is the Medias wish unfortunately has a very limited impact on our leaders.

Mauritanian Army raided Al Quaida camp in the desert and killed seven terrorists:

A week ago the Mauritanian army carried out a successful attack against Al Quaida in the Maghreb. The raid left seven terrorists dead and no casualties among the Mauritanian army.
This operation is the first response from the Mauritanian Army to the numerous terror attacks committed by this terrorist group against the army and security servicemen.
From now on the terrorists will understand that there is no save heaven for them once they dare commit a terror attack on the Mauritanian soil. And the Mauritanian blood is not cheap and they will pay a heavy price for every drop they spill.

A year under Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz rule:

A year ago Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdel Azize has been elected as a Mauritanian president.
Today after his first year in office, all the Mauritanian agree that he has delivered when it comes to tackling corruption and mismanagement. However he seems unwilling to put an end to the rampant human right abuse in the country. For instance many slavery cases were unveiled and brought to justice but the victims never got a fair trial nor allowed to leave their former master and live as a free person.

Stop the double standard’s policy in Mauritania :

In today’s world the discrimination upon colour, race or religion are no longer acceptable; and in country like Mauritania where different races are living together and forming the population of the country, the double standard’s policy should be stopped and people should have the same right and feel equal before law whatever their skin colour.

The case of Ahmed Ould Khatry is one of many other examples where the black people especially the Haratines are unjustly targeted and jailed while others in the same situation are enjoying their freedom and even sometimes awarded by a very good job.
In order to build a very strong country all the Mauritanian people whatever their background should be integrated and treated the same way.

As a prize, the winner of the 2010 Challenge Sidi Mohamed Abbass, which happened this year to be the team of the Kaedi1 High school, was granted a trip to South Africa and seats in the final of the 2010 football world cup.
This is the second time a Mauritanian youth team get the importunity to attend such an international event. The first time was four years ago when the Zemzem high school team was sent, after their victory of the Challenge, to attend the opening ceremony of the Germany 2006 world cup and the opening match.
Such an initiative which aims to motivate our youths to play football deserves a special praise and support from the highest authority in the country.

Do you know that all the Mauritanian oil fields are in deep water ?

Drilling for oil in deep water is always dangerous and full of an unpredictable risks and what’s going on nowadays in the Gulf of Mexico is a strong reminder.
According to many oil expert, this is not the first time that such an accident has occurred in the history of the drilling in deep water, and usually they resort to dangerous weapons ( nuclear weapon) as the only available solution in order to cup the field and stop the oil spill. This spill which has started on April 20th, is estimated to have gashed in the sea until now more than forty thousand barrel a day, and no real solution is expected to be found in the coming days. The damage on the American economy is compared to that of the 9/11 according to Barack Obama. And on the environment is still to be figured out.
In Mauritania, we should take all the necessary steps to shield our country from such a disastrous accident and ban any drilling in deep water in the future.

The rainbow world cup:

Already three weeks in the 2010 world cup and no really a good performance from any African representing team. And what struck me more is the fact that some African players seem in a good shape and more motivated while playing for their European team and less while representing their homeland.
Among those six teams who represent Africa, only Ghana has lifted himself up to the plight, and played the role it should be playing as a proud and dignified African representing team. Yesterday, Cameroon another African representing team was defeated for the second time in row which means it’s already out of the competition whatever the result of its last match against Netherland. Until the last week of this first round, we only hope that at least three of the six African representing teams will move to the next stage of the competition.
