A recent national poll, organised by many of the best professional in the field, shows that more than eighty two percent of the Mauritanian population now prefer former president Mr Maaouiya Ould Sid’Ahmed Taya to the current president Mr Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallah. And when we made our own investigation, we found out that the main reason behind this trend is the fact that, during Maaouiya rule, the business was much more flourished than today and everyone’s confident in the future was very high.
But today the real-estate market which was considered by almost all the Mauritanian as a safe investment for the short and long term period, collapsed. And as a result of this situation the cost of the average house in Nouakchott, downgraded from 14.000.000 UM two years ago to less than 9.000.000 today which's affected baddly all the Mauritanian.
And the rising of the food price throughout the country, and sometimes twice of what it used to be especially in the countryside and the big cities like Nktt, Ndb, Nema, Aioune, Kiffa...etc.
Finally, all that together made people sceptical about the future, and sometimes even afraid of the spread of the insecurity situation in the country due to the famine, starvation and a weak government.
